Since 2001, Sandra Penning is in charge of the Representative office of the Paris/Ile de France Chamber of Commerce and Industry to the EU. The Paris Chamber serves 800.000 enterprises based in the Paris region and which represent one quarter of the French GDP. The Chamber provides business representation to national authorities, services and advices to companies, guidance and training through a network of 24 schools and support to international development.
The role of the Paris Chamber Brussels office is to provide advance warnings on EU developments for companies, lobbying on issues relevant for our business community and assistance for submission of projects for co-financing.
From 1988 to 2001, S. Penning set up consecutively 3 EU offices for British local authorities. She started her career with Devon and Cornwall authorities (focusing on agricultural, fisheries and regional EU policies) and then with Kent County Council on the occasion of the Channel Tunnel development (focusing on EU environment, transport, regional policies and developing partnerships through EU programs with the Transmanche region). Finally she represented the East of England region (the 6 counties to the North East of London, including the universities of Cambridge and East Anglia).
S. Penning has a university degree in political sciences and international relations and a specialized Master in European studies.She gives lectures on EU issues for MBA programs of ESCP-Europe and Essec, 2 Paris Chamber’s business schools.
